OMA KUZHAMBU
INGREDIENTS
Ajwain seeds (omam) - 1 teaspoon
Red Chilles - 4
Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
Sambhar powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
Oil
optional : rice flour - 1/2 teaspoon ( for thickening)
METHOD
Soak tamarind and prepare puree about one and half glasses.
Heat a kadai with little oil. Add mustard seeds, red chillies ( cut into two) and ajwain seeds (omam).
After it splutters add curry leaves and tamarind puree. Then add sambhar powder,
turmeric powder and salt and allow it to boil and simmer till it thickens. ( to the consistency of vatha kuzhambu )
If it is too watery, mix the rice flour with little water and add to the boiling kuzhambu.
This gives relief from indigestion and gastric troubles.
